Xbox Elite Controller Series 2: features and price
There is a new Xbox Elite controller on the way, and if you take your games seriously, whether on Xbox or PC, you should pay attention. Xbox Elite’s new series 2 wireless controller made its official debut during Microsoft’s keynote at E3 2019. The company announced it as “The most advanced controller in the world” and stuffed it with high-end hardware specs to back up this claim.
More customizable than ever
The controller has been completely redesigned and redesigned from its predecessor, Microsoft says. A great deal of attention has been paid to customization, where you will be able to change the sensitivity of the controls and create easily accessible presets to suit your favorite play style.
This includes several features such as the ability to adjust the tension on the levers, pop them out of the controller, and then insert a special tool to make them stiffer or softer. This way you can have finer control based on your style of play.
The front levers have a shorter “play”, so that you can shoot faster than before, while the grip now has a wraparound rubber finish. Three custom profiles allow you to more easily switch between configurations to play different titles. For example, you might have a profile for Forza Horizon 4 and therefore a very different setup to try your hand at Gears 5.
Alternatively, you can choose to map a button to use voice commands like “record that” or “take a screenshot”. It is also possible to set a button as a Shift key, so that every other button can be given a second function.
Interchangeable levers and paddles
However, it is the interchangeable parts that could make the new Elite Controller Series 2 more appealing. It is possible to extract the levers and paddles and position others with different shapes and finishes. Eg. Microsoft will include not only a set of six thumbsticks (two standard, two classic, one tall and one wide) in the box, but four paddles (two medium and two mini) and a set of two D-pads, standard and faceted.
We switch to bluetooth
As for connectivity, the new control now uses Bluetooth to pair with your Windows PC or Xbox. There is a new internal rechargeable battery, which uses a USB-C port on the back for this operation. Alternatively, you can opt for the removable charging base present in the bundle. They are promises up to forty hours of play on a single charge.
All in all, it could be the controller that pro gamers have been waiting for from Microsoft. Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 is available for pre-order now priced at $ 179, but we will have to wait until November 4th for shipping.
