What to expect from the Apple event on October 18
Yesterday Apple announced the long-awaited October launch event: after the release of the new iPhones in September, the Cupertino-based company has now invited users to follow the event October 18th at 7.00 pm Italian time. But what news will Apple present in this case?
The news awaited by Apple for the event on 18 October
As usual, Apple has decided to split its product launches throughout the year. We saw the new iMac, iPad Pro, purple iPhone 12, AirTag and Apple TV 4K in April; the event dedicated to the new software versions in June and the new iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, iPad mini and iPad in September. So it might be fair to ask: but what will the Cupertino company present on October 18?
For many users, the October “Unleashed” event will be Apple’s most anticipated. The star of the live streaming, in fact, will be the MacBook Pro. Rumored for months, and expected just between October and November, the new MacBook Pro should be powered by M1X chip, the more powerful successor to the M1, and should be available in one 14 “and one 16” version. It would be the first MacBook Pro with Apple’s proprietary chip and a larger 13-inch screen.
The two new variants are expected to feature a mini-LED display, an HDMI port and an SD card slot – so you can say goodbye to some adapters you used with MacBooks from previous years. Apple seems to bring back the much loved one MagSafe for chargingthen the magnetic connector that was found up to the 2015 MacBooks, while will abandon the controversial Touch Bar in favor of a traditional row of physical function keys. Apple has always pushed the use of the Touch Bar since its introduction, but it has never really convinced and won the fans, which is why the company seems to have retraced its steps.
MacBook Pro should also be renewed from the design point of view: it seems that it will follow the philosophy of the new iMac, iPhone and iPad, therefore more squared, with more pronounced edges and flatter edges. The M1X chip, on the other hand, should allow up to 64GB of RAM (compared to the 16GB of the M1 chip); should make one available 10-core CPU and 16 or 32 graphics cores. The current M1 chip has 8 CPU cores (four high-performance and four low-power) and seven or eight graphics cores.
Is there even a new Mac mini on the horizon?
At the same time it is rumored that Apple may also present a new Mac mini always equipped with the M1X chip, with the same technical characteristics. So always CPU with 10 cores, 16 or 32 graphics cores and up to 64GB of RAM. The Mac mini, according to leaker Jon Prosser, will usher in a new generation of industrial design.
Continuing with the Mac focus of the event, we also expect Apple to announce the date as well official release of macOS Monterey during Monday’s event. Monterey is currently in beta testing and is expected to be released to the public as soon as possible.
Finally, we talk about AirPods 3 for over a year and we expect them to be announced this fall. It is possible that the AirPods 3 will be announced at the October 18th event or be reserved for a more muted announcement via press release later on. It appears that aesthetically they will be similar to the AirPods Pro, with shorter arms than the base model, but without the noise reduction features.
To know exactly what Apple will present, all that remains is to follow the live broadcast in mid-October. The October 18 event will be streamed live on Apple’s website (by connecting to the main page at the time of the event), on the company’s YouTube channel and via the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple. TV. The live streaming will take place at 19.00 Italian time.
