The three missions previewed: Trapped

Here's a look at three campaign missions Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Warning, they contain slight spoilers. Let's start with the Trapped mission.

It all begins in a rundown tavern in Amsterdam, almost two weeks after New Year's Eve 1981. A twist in a CIA investigation brings three operators to this dump where the jukebox still plays the hits of the moment, but where the decor and available bottles are not updated as frequently. After meeting their source, the scores are settled and the operators leave the premises, passing customers and ending up in the aisles. Here they begin preparing to capture the first of two key objectives in resolving an ongoing hostage situation.

After an adrenaline-fueled chase with several shootouts, the mission changes pace when the three men confirm that their second target is at Trabzon Airport, Turkey. Although they prepare for another nighttime mission, they decide to bring an unusual weapon, in case things go wrong.

Campaign Mission: Fractured Jaw

What is this threat that could change the course of a global conflict? As one of the operators recalls from his experience during the Vietnam War, it is none other than Perseus, a mysterious Soviet spy who some even think never existed.

Although he is depicted as some sort of mythological character, players will be able to relive the first encounter with Perseus during the campaign's second mission, Fracture Jaw, which takes place during the Vietnam War. Thanks to this flashback, the team discovers key clues to finding Perseus. The theme of deception underlies the war of the past and the mission of the present.

In true Black Ops style, this campaign features several flashbacks such as Fracture Jaw that add an extra layer of context to the overall story. With these memories, the CIA team (and of course the players) will be able to steal vital information to uncover the truth behind Perseus.

Campaign Mission: Last Remedies

With another change of pace from the first two missions, in Extreme Remedies our CIA agents must engage in a spy mission that will lead them to obtain information on Perseus. Using the latest technological advances from the 1980s such as modified civilian tools and experimental prototypes, players will take on the role of a Soviet undercover agent working for the CIA within KGB headquarters.

This role opens a window into the world of the KGB, with the possibility of « obtaining » information from his « comrades ». One wrong move or word could blow cover, compromising the mission and turning it into a fight for survival to the death.

More twists and turns to discover in Call Of Duty Black Ops: Cold War

During these three missions, Perseus goes from a mythological figure to a concrete threat. A threat that the player will have to pursue for the duration of the campaign.

“One thing both games have in common is that they use true history,” Vondrak explains. “It was a fundamental element that made the storylines of the first Black Ops credible and that we couldn't wait to bring back. » From the most famous crises of the early 1980s to the most secret missions, the campaign is a blend of Cold War history and fictional events that only Black Ops can deliver.
