The History of PC Gaming: the first museum in Italy that tells the story of the video game
Intel and Videogames Party have launched The History of PC Gaming, a digital museum. It is an Italian institution, whose goal is to tell the fundamental historical moments for what has been the history and diffusion of the video game as a form of mass entertainment.
The History of PC Gaming, an all-Italian museum
PC gaming has been long and full of decisive events to arrive at what we consider today as a contemporary video game. It is possible to trace the beginning of these videogame events at the time of the paper magazines and the first modems, a transition period that laid the foundations for the development of the playful infrastructure that we use every day today.
It is precisely to celebrate these moments that The History of PC gaming is born, an Intel and Videogames Party project created in collaboration with the IGN editorial team. This initiative is configured as a museum in all respects, useful for retracing all the steps that have contributed to making the media we love so much great.
The museum is currently only accessible in digital formathowever, the idea is to also have a physical location, where you can see firsthand the places where the history of the video game was consummated in the first place, or the gaming rooms of the players.
The path in the avenue of memories starts from 80sthose that also marked the first great crisis of the video game, but which at the same time also consecrated its presence in the homes of enthusiasts thanks to the advent of home computers.
And then from decade to decade the narration of The history of PC Gaming reaches up to 2020, where the video game has now abandoned its role as a niche hobby, little understood by mass society, to become one of the most flourishing entertainment sectors ever seen on the planet.
If you are interested in tackling this path, in some ways didactic, we refer you to the official website of the museum.
