Tesla patents a 1.5 million kilometer battery
Tesla has patented a new type of battery that should be able to withstand up to a million miles (more than one and a half million kilometers). Obviously we are not talking about autonomy, but about life time: it would in fact be a battery capable of withstanding up to 4000 full charge cycles.
Tesla’s million-mile battery
To discover the patent of this new battery lithium ioncalled the “Method for Synthesizing Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum Electrodes,” was the site Elecrek. What makes this new battery special would be the use of a cathode ‘single crystal‘ NMC 532 and a new kind of electrolytetwo constituent components of every battery on which much of the performance depends.
Tesla engineers created the project for this battery, Hongyang Li And Jing LiAnd Jeff Dahn from the Dalhousie University. Tesla has not yet officially expressed itself about it, but it is likely that we will see an announcement about it at the appointment for the Battery Day, which this year will be held around Half may.
