Tesla Model Y: rear-wheel drive is coming
The Tesla Model Y range will soon be completed by the arrival of the new Long Range variant with rear-wheel drive. This version will lower the starting list price of the electric SUV of the Californian house, helping to further increase the potential of a model destined to become the reference in the four-wheel market.
Currently, Tesla offers its Model Y with all-wheel drive. The adoption of a rear-wheel drive solution will reduce costs and offer a new zero-emission SUV at an even lower price. Recall that, recently, Elon Musk confirmed that there will be no “Standard Range” version of the Model Y as this version would offer too low an autonomy. The rear-wheel drive, in the Long Range version, should represent a central part for the future of the project.
The imminent debut of a rear-wheel drive Model Y is about the North American market. The electric SUV of the Californian house, in fact, will arrive in Europe only during 2021. Currently, by connecting Tesla’s Italian, it is possible to order the Dual Motor Long Range and Performance variants, starting from 63 thousand euros. For both models, production is scheduled to start in 2021.
