Sony’s strategy: PC games will not be available at launch

Although the strength of the brand is dictated by the exclusive weight for PlayStation, Sony has for years changed its strategic approach, deciding to open up to the PC market as well. The release of Horizon Zero Dawnfor example, it proved to be a great success, showing that gamers are interested in the arrival of PS titles on PC.

Hermen Hulst, boss of PlayStation Studios, has recently shed new light on this strategy, explaining how for the moment the simultaneous launch of the exclusives on PC is not planned, as is the case with Microsoft. These are his statements:

“I want to underline that PlayStation remains the ideal platform to play our titles at launch, but at the same time we will continue to support PC users, choosing the right moment to distribute the games. Look at what happened with Days Gone: Bend Studio released the title on PC on May 18th, two years after its release on PS4 ”.

Hermen then added: “We want to reach all those players who have not yet had the opportunity to experience our stories, the great characters and the worlds we have built, but the release of the games on PC will not come at the expense of creating a substantial lineup for console “.

According to some rumors, the next PlayStation exclusive to arrive on PC should be Uncharted 4 – The end of a thief, but at the moment there is still no official confirmation on this.

Still to stay on the Horizon theme, however, in recent days Sony has released the new, spectacular gameplay of the sequel Forbidden West, which will be released on PS4 and PS5. It will therefore be a cross-gen title to all intents and purposes.
