Sony integrates Discord chat on PlayStation

Soon all PlayStation owners may have a new tool to communicate with each other. In these hours, in fact, Sony and Discord have formalized a partnership, with the intention of adding the service of Discord chat on PlayStation Network by the beginning of next year. This was announced by Jim Ryan himself, CEO of SIE, who made official the “new partnership with Discord, the communication service popularized by players and used by over 140 million people every month around the world”.

To put it between us, a new chat service was just what Sony’s console needed. Despite the improvements made with the PS5, gamers have always found the communication tools rather disappointing. But now the teams of the two companies “are already working hard to connect Discord to the social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network”. What should we expect from this incredible collaboration then?

Discord chat comes to Sony’s console

“Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences on consoles and mobile devices closer together starting early next year, allowing friends, groups and communities to go out, have fun and communicate more easily while playing together.” So Jim Ryan revealed what are the future projects of two of the most famous companies in the gaming world. To achieve this, Sony Interactive Entertainment has made a minority investment as part of the Discord’s Series H.

At the moment, we have no idea how the Discord chat integration on PlayStation will work. The console will likely have a Discord-like interface which will allow users to interact with other players on PSN via text or audio messages. However, we do not know if there will be a dedicated App or the integration will be more limited. What matters, however, is that by the beginning of next year, gamers will be able to enjoy a new social experience on Sony’s console.

“Enabling players to build communities and enjoy shared gaming experiences is at the heart of what we do, so we are thrilled to start this journey with one of the most popular communications services in the world,” Jim Ryan’s goal. we are sure it will be able to reach it within the time limits it has set. But are you bridges to chat with your friends?
