Sony BRAVIA TVs: Now compatible with Amazon Alexa devices
Sony has recently announced that the TVs BRAVIA 4K HDR with Android platform are now compatible with devices Amazon Alexa.
Users will then have the ability to ask Alexa to perform functions such as turn on the TV, adjust the volume, use the play / pause / stop / fast forward controls, change channels and input sources.
Voice controls are a natural way to interact with home technology and owners of Amazon Echo, Echo Plus, Echo Show and Echo Dot and a 4k HDR TV with Sony’s Android TV, will now be able to ask “Alexa, turn on the living room TV” or “Alexa, turn down the volume on the bedroom TV”.
“This is a perfect example of Sony’s commitment to providing a wide range of innovative technologies to its consumers,” says Angelo D’Orta, Sony TV Marketing Manager in Italy. “Through the BRAVIA range of Android-powered TVs, we are able to offer interactive entertainment to consumers who own Amazon Echo, Echo Plus, Echo Show and Echo Dot.”
Connecting a device with Amazon Alexa to a Sony 4K HDR TV with Android TV opens the doors to a domotic home, able to interact through the Voice Assistants with different devices, for an unprecedented entertainment experience.
The firmware update made the following models compatible:
- XD70, XD75, XD80, SD80, XD85 and the ZD9 series (2016 Android TV);
- XE80, XE83, XE85, XE90, XE93, XE94 and A1 series (2017 Android TV);
- XF75, XF80, XF83, XF85, XF87, XF90, AF8, AF9 and the ZF9 series (2018 Android TV);
- XG80, XG81, XG83, XG85, XG87, XG90, AG8, AG9, and ZG9 series (2019 Android TV).
