Sonic lands on Minecraft for his 30th birthday

Today Sonic the Hedghog turns 30 and as part of the celebrations the most famous blue hedgehog in gaming history will make an appearance in Minecraft, in the form of DLC. The additional content will not only see the arrival of Sonic, but also Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow and many others will join him.

Sonic comes to Minecraft

Thanks to the new DLC, Minecraft players will be able to compete in levels inspired by the classic circuits of the Sonic saga, complete with an exclusive soundtrack inspired by the most successful titles of the blue hedgehog. The additional content seems to be many and varied and we have no doubt that it will make fans of both games happy, between races to the last golden ring.

The collaboration was announced via a trailer on Twitter which does not lack a certain humor on the part of the developers. In fact, in the tweet we can read that the rings that Sonic and his companions will find themselves collecting in Minecraft are decidedly less round than their original counterparts, which is obviously due to the “block” graphics of the game.

Wait, what was that blue blur? And who put those square-looking rings there? Hold on to your running shoes: Sonic the Hedgehog has come to Minecraft!

Gather rings, race across acts, and defeat anyone trying to slow you down in this official DLC:

For many historical fans of the franchise however, one of the most attractive components of this DLC is the return of the Chao Garden, a requested feature most picked up by the community. We certainly wouldn’t have expected to review this feature right inside Minecraft, but the mere fact that the developers have thought about it is a decent added value for this collaboration.

Minecraft is currently available on Ps5, Ps4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Nintendo Switch and PC, and if you have grown up on bread and Sonic we advise you to give this interesting additional content a chance to jump straight into your past. On the other hand, what better way to celebrate the thirty years of our beloved super sonic hedgehog?
