Redmi is ready to launch its first gaming smartphone
In January, the head of Redmi announced his desire to create a smartphone dedicated to gamers, and shortly after it was rumored that this device would be based on the Dimensity 1200 chip. The smartphone at the moment remains unnamed, and we will have to wait for the official launch to get to know it, but its code name is Ares.
The Dimensity 1200 processor is built using 6 nanometer technology and performance has improved by 22% over the Dimensity 1000+. The chip includes a powerful core Cortex-A78 with a peak frequency of 3.0 GHz, and three other similar cores but overclocked to 2.6 GHz. Also there are four Cortex-A55 cores operating at 2.0 GHz. The chipset provides support for displays with a refresh rate of 168 GHz and graphics processing is done by the Mali-G77 MC9.
Redmi then decides to enter the gaming sector by announcing its first smartphone dedicated to gamers. The launchas the company announced on the Weibo website, is scheduled for the end of April. This is a wise move on the part of the Xiaomi company, given that 70% of Redmi users are young and spend a lot of time playing with their smartphone. According to Lu Weibing, the general manager, the smartphone will be “normal”, therefore with a less flashy look than competing gaming smartphones. And the quality / price ratio will be assured, so that’s to be expected a competitive price.
