Project Limitless is the first 5G laptop with Snapdragon 8cx processor

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx: what do we know?
  • Windows on Snapdragon: what are we waiting for?

Qualcomm And Lenovo took advantage of Computex in Taipei to announce the first 5G PCbaptized “ Unlimited project”And equipped with the new processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cxa 7nm chip specifically designed for laptops and capable of delivering next-generation connectivity.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx: what do we know?

The Snapdragon 8cx SoC is the latest addition to Qualcomm, born with the intention of serving only laptops and ensuring them better performance, longer battery life and above all all the connectivity you need. This is thanks to a unique combination: on the one hand we have it Snapdragon X55the modem designed for 5G, on the other hand the model X24 LTEin order to use 4G where next generation networks are not yet available.

We will therefore have to find all of this within Project Limitless, a terminal which should officially land on the market current 2020 at an as yet unknown price.

Windows on Snapdragon: what are we waiting for?

This is not the first partnership between Qualcomm and Lenovo. In fact, we recently had the opportunity to try the Lenovo Yoga C630 WOS, a notebook with Snapdragon 850 which kept the initial promises made by the two giants: the terminal is in fact always connected and above all allows you to reach 15 hours of autonomy.

Instead, we are curious to understand what the performance of the new SoC will be. The previous one had some difficulties with the heaviest applications but Qualcomm promised that the newcomer will be able to compete with Intel and AMD processors. We'll just have to wait until Project Limitless comes out to find out if that's actually true.
