Netflix confirms official HD support on some Asus and TCL smartphones

Netflix confirms the extension of support to video quality HD on new smartphones from Asus and TCL, including Zenfone 6 and 10L.

Netflix HD coming to these smartphones

For Netflix it is very important that its contents are viewed in optimal quality from every device that supports it. The company is therefore quite demanding when it comes to certifying individual devices with its functionalities. Not all Android devices currently allow streaming at the same quality, but today the list of devices compatible with HD video quality is expanding with new entries. We are talking about the latest phones produced by TCL, namely TCL 10 Pro and TCL 10L (now compatible with HD), together with Asus ROG II and Asus ZenFone 6.

For greater accuracy, the new additions are divided as follows:

HD
HDR10

The 10L and ROG II also achieved HDR10 certification, joining the TCL 10 Pro, which somehow acquired that feature in April, even before the phone was released to the market.

It seems strange to us that the ZenFone 6 is only obtaining this certification now. The smartphone has in fact been on the market since last year. However, some users point out that the official Netflix list is not always 100% reliable, but is subject to occasional errors and deficiencies. Some devices (like ROG Phone II) were already on the list but then they mysteriously disappeared. Other devices are out of the list, but still allow viewing of Netflix streaming content in HD and HDR.
