HUAWEIa leading technology company, today announces the third annual report HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards. The talent launched by Huawei in 2017 reached 550,000 registrations from more than 130 countries in previous editions. Until July 31, creatives around the world can submit their images taken by Huawei smartphones. Five Italian talents, selected by a local jury, will have the opportunity to compete at an international level in front of a prestigious jury composed of world-renowned photographers, curators and visual artists.


Huawei has always been highly appreciated for its innovation in the field of photography, and its high-end smartphones are equipped with cutting-edge technologies and the best cameras in their class. And it is precisely to underline the continuing research by Huawei of a unique photographic experience, which the brand created in 2017 i NEXT-IMAGE Priceas an integral part of the overall NEXT-IMAGE plan, with the aim of redefining expression and visual culture through ever more professional and intuitive mobile cameras.

The categories

The HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards 2019 are divided into six categories: those reconfirmed after the 2018 edition are 'Inspiration'to share the emotion of everyday life, 'Portrait'experience the power of identity “Storyboard”, with which to tell a story through 9 images. To these are added 'Discovery', 'Emotion', 'Film'. The first is to express instantaneous emotions; 'Discovery' in which you have access to new locations, notably thanks to zoom, and 'Film', which consists of filming a story in less than 30 seconds.

Five Italian talents will have the opportunity to participate in the international final selection, which awards various prizes, including 20,000 dollars, the new smartphone HUAWEI P30 Pro and the opportunity to attend the NEXT IMAGE Awards ceremony at Paris Photo 2019. The 6 categories will also see a winner each, rewarded with $6,000, a HUAWEI P30 Pro smartphone, the opportunity to attend the ceremony Awards. 50 finalists will finally win a smartphone HUAWEI P30 Pro.

The jury

This year, the jury was enriched with new internationally renowned personalities, including photographers, curators and visual artists.

These include four Magnum photographers, including the highly regarded Alec Sothwho returns to the jury for his second year, and three newcomers: Bieke deporter, Georgiy Pinkhasov And Steve McCurry. Other thematic events

To support the interest generated by the NEXT-IMAGE awards, HUAWEI will also organize a series of themed events, always focused on the quality of visual expression. Among the most important, we will remember the participation in the main exhibitions and roadshows around the world, the courses of the NEXT-Image College which will offer online courses and meetings between artists and students, as well as some Masterclasses with photography experts .

For the second year in a row, HUAWEI will display the winning photos from the NEXT-IMAGE awards as part of a larger exhibition at Paris Photo, one of the leading international photography fairs. Last year's NEXT-IMAGE exhibition featured more than 5,000 images taken with HUAWEI smartphones by professional and amateur photographers from around the world and was showcased in Paris, Beijing and Shenzhen.


The talent competition ends on July 26, the announcement of local winners will be given on July 31, while on September 9, the international winners will be announced. The HUAWEI NEXT-IMAGE Awards 2019 award ceremony will take place at Paris Photo 2019 next November.
