Horizon Forbidden West: Guerrilla tells the birth of the settlements
Guerilla Games is continuing to reveal new details on Horizon Forbidden West, awaiting its official release on February 22nd. In the most recent post on the site PlayStation regarding the title we can learn new information about the world in which Horizon Forbidden West is set, with its cultures, settlements and the technology that is the background to this post apocalyptic version of our planet.
Horizon Forbidden West: Guerrilla Games tells the story of the settlements
Horizon Forbidden West is shaping up to be the worthy successor of the first chapter, with a game world that is as lively and vibrant as ever, made up of ancient machines, tribes with multifaceted cultural habits and ancient ruins all to be discovered. Particularly important will be the new settlements, which will be characterized according to the tribe that built them.
Here is what Espen Sogn, one of the developers, explained on the matter: “When we explore the Forbidden West, nothing should seem out of place. The Guerrilla Living World team takes care of the aspects of the game that make it believable and authentic: the tribes, the settlements and their inhabitants. Each element we insert into the world has a very specific function “.
Annie Kitain, Guerrilla’s senior screenwriter, also expressed herself on the subject, who shed light on the creation process of the individual tribes: “We wondered what their conflicts were, how they fit into the story and how they interacted with the world around them. Let’s take the Tenakths, for example. Many of their beliefs derive from ancient ruins scattered throughout the Forbidden West, and unlike other tribes, they fall into three distinct clans. Every aspect of them, from the shared history to their ideals and their disputes, contributes to defining the characters that Aloy meets during the journey ”.
The post on the PlayStation Blog mostly focuses on the outpost of Chain remover, but it’s just one of the many settlements Aloy will encounter on her journey. We therefore advise you to take a look at the post in question, since there is also mention of an interesting new crafting mechanic based on the pieces of the defeated machines.
