Buy the Apple TV, 32GB or 64GB?
Apple TV went on sale today. Apple’s new “set top box” arrives for the first time with two possible configurations depending on the storage they have available. The rest of the specifications are identical in both models, but storage is not something that we should take lightly, firstly because there is a €50 difference between the 32GB and 64GB models, and secondly because there is no possibility of expanding later, so the decision must be considered. What model to buy? Is the 32GB Apple TV enough? Or is it better to buy the 64Gb for that big donkey walk or not walk?
If you are going to use the Apple TV basically for the reproduction of multimedia content, be it movies, series or music, and occasionally play some games or install applications, the 32GB of capacity will probably be enough.
If, on the other hand, your idea is to install many games and applications, it is best to opt for the 64GB one. Keep in mind that many applications once downloaded continue to download additional content as needed.

App Store games and apps for Apple TV have a maximum size of 200MB. But once downloaded to your device they can download content up to 2GB. The maximum size that an application can occupy on your device is therefore 2.2GB. If you need to download more content once that limit has been reached, you will have to delete elements in order to download new ones.
The applications that download content for streaming playback are managed directly by the system. These contents are downloaded to your Apple TV to be able to watch them without interruptions, and are later deleted according to the available storage. In this way, if you have a lot of free space, these “on demand” content may remain stored so that they can be played immediately later, or if, on the contrary, you are running out of free storage, the system will delete them to make room for other content.
Taking these data into account, which model to choose? Most users will have more than enough with the 32GB model, just those who want to turn their Apple TV into a gaming hub might need a larger capacity. My decision is already made: 32GB to spare (or so I hope).
