BMW ID7 is updated and brings with it many important innovations

BMW announces that it has started updating its operating system BMW ID7 in over the air mode and which will gradually be available for all 750,000 vehicles of the propeller brand currently on the market. The German company is keen to emphasize that this is the largest remote update ever launched by a European company and includes new functions, optimizations and developments of those already present.

BMW ID7, (finally) Android Auto arrives

One of the most awaited and interesting news for BMW customers is the arrival of the Google Android Auto operating system. This is now joined to Apple Car Play already available for some time. For the latter, the update brings new navigation information, which also includes turn warnings and lane information directly to the head-up display and instrument cluster.

Other new features of the BMW ID7 OS update include:

Connected Parking now offers a variety of services that support the customer in finding a parking space, not only guiding him to where it can be found, but also calculating the probability that a parking space is free. The service also takes into consideration the dimensions of the vehicle and compares them with those of the available parking area.

New is the eDrive Zones service which allows you to drive a BMW plug-in hybrid in a more environmentally friendly way. Using geofencing, the vehicle automatically switches to electric driving mode when entering a green area. The eDrive zones have already been established in over 90 European cities, and for the Italian market the definition of the zones is planned in the course of 2021.

BMW Maps which now offers a completely new browsing experience. Route calculation is for the first time based on a cloud and is significantly faster and more dynamic because it combines real-time information with forecast models. BMW Maps also provides additional information about the context of the points of interest, such as ratings, opening hours or images. Destination entry has also been updated and is now easier and more intuitive to use, similar to that of online search engines. For example, there is the possibility to enter free text using the search box and it is possible to use autofill.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant it has a new and more intuitive appearance, it is able to distinguish whether the driver or the passenger is speaking and addresses him directly. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant also provides more proactive assistance thanks to voice commands. The Virtual Assistant has also been enhanced to include new voice commands: now you can conveniently open the windows, change driving modes (COMFORT, SPORT or ECO PRO) or ask for advice on how to drive more efficiently.

  Apple’s new iPhone will be compatible with most BMW models from day one

The function Connected Charging makes mobility even more sustainable and innovative. The display indicating where public charging points are located has been improved and includes additional details, such as opening hours, suppliers and availability. Points of interest, such as bars or restaurants, in the vicinity of the charging station are also listed.

Finally, the function Smart Opener for the tailgate can now be configured individually or, if you prefer, completely deactivated.
