Amazon updates Alexa with geolocated routines and reminders, and email support
Alexa is on everyone’s lips, and there is no one like Amazon to know how to sell their products, with clear permission from Apple. And it is that although the HomePod is a great product, Amazon has made a great pricing strategy to get its new speakers with the Alexa virtual assistant to sell like churros. And the truth is that Alexa works like a charm… Now Amazon wants to go a little further, they have just updated all the devices with Alexa so that it activates routines and reminders based on geolocation. After the jump we give you all the details of this interesting novelty.
With this new support for geolocation, we can now ccreate routines and reminders that are activated based on where we are. For example, we can say, “Alexa, remind me to feed my dogs when I get home”, then we will receive a notification when according to our iPhone (thanks to the location) we arrive home. And not only that, as we have told you, this update has been released on all devices, mobile applications included, so we would receive a warning even if we set it when we arrive at a place where we do not have an Alexa speaker but our iPhone does, “Alexa remind me to print the report when I get to work.”
The routines also update with these new localization settingsand with the possibility of deferred activating the following actions of each routine: when saying good morning the coffee maker is activated but the news skill is not activated until 20 minutes have elapsed. Even support for email has been activated, which we can configure directly from the app itself so that later we can ask Alexa if we have any new emails. Novelties that are beginning to be activated in the United States but that We will see very soon worldwideso now you know: always have everything related to Alexa updated to be the first to have all the news.
