Amazon confirms working on ‘an ambitious project’ for PC
Amazon made it clear a few years ago that it is a company in constant evolution and expansion. And that is clear to us now with their latest announcement: They are developing an “ambitious PC game project with the latest technology.”
But this news could be seen coming, since last year Amazon acquired the Double Helix company, known for developing Killer Instinct. In addition, he has hired specialists in the field such as Kim Swift, designer of the Portal, and Clint Hocking, who previously worked on franchises such as Far Cry and Splinter Cell.
Amazon has already started its journey in the self-produced games with games for your Fire TV that has a console controller to play Android-based games despite not being a console itself, and it seems that it is not going to stay only in that field in which it is difficult to enter. Amazon has issued an official statement announcing that it is developing its first cutting-edge game for PC, It is not yet known what the video game will be like, but it will have the participation of specialists who have worked on Half Life 2, Left for Dead, Dota 2, Halo, Infamous, Shadows of Mordor, Portal, and The Last of Us.
According to the Kotaku portal, Amazon I would have spent a great deal of money to license CryEngine, technology that has been used to develop the popular Crysis 3. But that doesn’t end there. Last year Amazon bought the streaming video game portal Twitch for US $ 970 million.
The studio is based in Seattle and they are looking for more staff: 26 jobs are offered through Gamasutra’s job vacancies section, in both technical and artistic game development positions.
