3 new SUPER news from NVIDIA: features and prices
It’s official: yesterday Nvidia presented, a bit surprisingly, 3 new video cards: this is the RTX 2060 Superfrom the RTX 2070 Super and imminent RTX 2080 Super.
These 3 new VGAs are not intended as refreshes of the previous RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080, but real new models that will improve and replace the 3 models announced less than a year ago. It is therefore clear Nvidia’s intent to annoy its long-time rival AMD, which had recently announced two new mid-to-high-end cards, the RX 5700 and the RX 5700XT.
It is no coincidence that the first two Super models will be presented on July 9, that is, one day before the presentation of the two AMD models. A case?
RTX SUPER, what changes?
According to Lisa Su (CEO of AMD) the upcoming RX 5700 and 5700XT would guarantee at a lower cost, and performance in line with the previous RTX 2060 and 2070. Hence the relaunch of Nvidia which with its Super will further raise the bar.
From the first tests carried out with the first samples sent by the Santa Clara house, in fact, the new 2060 Super in terms of performance is much closer to the “old” 2070 than it is to the “old” 2060. The same for the 2070 Super which is following from behind. close to the previous 2080 in a escalation that leads in some cases to even equal the performance of a GTX 1080TI.
New Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER
As we can see from the official specifications diagram, the new RTX 2060 Super goes from 6 to 8GB of video memory, which makes it gain a further increase in the memory interface, from 192 to 256 bits. Obviously, the base frequencies also increase and the Cuda Core now well 2176.
New Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPER
Less important but equally promising are the improvements of the RTX 2070 Super, which maintains its 8GB of Vram GDDR6 but raises both the frequencies (1605MHz) and the Cuda Core (2560), as well as consumption in both cases, like its younger sister. .
3 new SUPER news from Nvidia: prices.
Pending the customizations of the various partners, the Nvidia reference versions will be available on the market from this July 9th at the following prices:
- RTX 2060 Super: around € 430
- RTX 2070 Super: € 540 approx
Nvidia does not discount. As mentioned, the performance is very close to the higher model of the previous generation (2060 Super> 2070 and 2070 Super> 2080), so the price will also be halfway between the two old reference models.
There we just have to wait for all these new cards in this war at the last frame in video games which, as we hope, will also lead to a lowering of general prices in all favor of us consumers: let the game begin!
